The next Android update confirmed as 'Android 5.1 Lollipop.'
Android 5.1 Lollipop will roll out to select devices by the end of February 2015, sources tell Android Pit, with it appearing out of the box this week on select Android One devices.
The first builds of the update are installed on Android One devices reportedly shipping out Indonesia this week. According to Android Pit, the official Android.com Indonesia page displayed the three devices - Evercoos One X, Mito Impact and Nexian Journey - with Android 5.1 Lollipop specified as the OS. At the time of writing, the devices descriptions now states “Android™ Lollipop (and gets the new version soon after it’s released).”
Android devices with the firmware installed are reportedly already hitting markets like Indonesia, Android Police reports, revealing several photos of freshly unpacked smartphones with the OS build.
Android Pit reported last month that Lollipop 5.1 was
scheduled for a February roll out to some devices before its full
release in June or July. The update will reportedly address the issues
that some users are experiencing with version 5.0, including:
-
Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
-
General improvements in system stability
-
Improved RAM management
-
Fixes for sudden app closures
-
Improved battery management
-
Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
-
Issues with wireless connections fixed
-
Problems with Okay Google function solved
-
Notifications problems solved
-
Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
-
Other improvements and changes
-
Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)
