Windows 10 build 9901 shows off an Xbox app.
Leaked images of a new Windows 10 build
show that Microsoft's new operating system will get an Xbox app that'll
allow users to access their friends lists, achievements, activity
feeds, and more from a PC.
The news comes from a leaked consumer build (9901) of Windows 10. One image shows a message from Microsoft that tells users the app is just an early preview that's still in development, but at the moment it looks like it will give you access the Store and messages as well. The message also tells users to check back to see what's changed, so the app could get more features in the future.
The Xbox app certainly helps to explain Microsoft's announcement that Xbox boss Phil Spencer will be one of the speakers in an upcoming Windows 10 event called "The Next Chapter."
Last week, Spencer teased: "I'll be focusing more on what we are doing on Windows 10 in January. It's time for us to talk about gaming on Windows."
Build 9901 also shows how Windows 10 integrates Microsoft's Siri-like personal digital assistant "Cortana," named after the Halo character.
Windows 10 will be available for consumers in fall 2015.
