Nintendo has announced Super Smash Bros. on 3DS enjoyed over 1 million sales in its opening Japanese weekend.
The figure, which combines both retail and download numbers for the brawler, paint a positive picture for the company ahead of the Wii U release of the title later this year. Nintendo also noted that 1 million physical copies of the game have been shipped to retail stores.
Last month, Nintendo unveiled three new fighters for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS: Captain Falcon, Lucina, and Robin. Following this, a wealth more were confirmed thanks to a streamer.
