A great mod for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.
A designer, who goes by the name Loopy, has created a GameCube controller adapter modification for use on both the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS handhelds.
"What I do to amuse myself. I re-purposed an old capture board,” the
modder writes on his 3DS Capture website. “Along with the standard
buttons, the GC analog stick is also mapped to the 3DS d-pad. C-stick
also goes to Y/X/B/A."
"If I were to sell it, I'd just make a DIY kit (bare board), it would be
very cheap to make," he writes in response to a forum member's question
about making it public. "Selling it is probably not worth the trouble.
Installing it isn't simple and I wouldn't want to deal with all the
botched installs."
The designer is also known for the 3DS Video Capture Board that allows
users to record or live stream gameplay from the handheld.
The controller modification is demonstrated in a video
where Loopy plays Super Street Fighter 4: 3D Edition with the
controller. Commenters online are pointing out how handy the work around
would be for the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
and Wii U. The title is slated to launch in North America and Europe
October 3 and in Australia October 4.
