The console's attach rate is nearly three games per console.
Today, Microsoft revealed that it has shipped 5 million Xbox One
consoles. This number has Xbox One outpacing its predecessor, Xbox 360,
by some 60 percent "at the same point in time," according to Microsoft. It's important to note that shipped does not equate to sold to consumer.
Xbox One sold 311,000 units in the US in March, putting it behind
PlayStation 4. Xbox 360 outsold PlayStation 3, pushing 111,000 units in
the same month. Xbox One's attach rate is 2.9 games per console, putting
it on par with PlayStation 4's attach rate of 2.93.
Combining Xbox One and Xbox 360 game sales, 4.1 million games were sold in March. 2.7 million of those were on Xbox 360.
Microsoft's number of 5 million Xbox Ones shipped to retailers puts it
significantly behind PlayStation 4's 7+ million sold to consumers, which Sony announced yesterday.
