It's a neat way to rediscover older games.
Valve has rolled out a new update to the Steam store this weekend, allowing players to see which games have received recent updates.
You'll find these games listed in a new section titled "Recently Updated."
By default it will show updates for all games within the Steam store,
but there is an option to narrow down the feed to just games that you
own, as well as unowned games that are free to play. (For instance, for
all players, the tab currently displays an update to 8BitMMO and the Just Cause 2 Multiplayer Mod.)
We can see this as being a handy way of rediscovering older games that have recently received new content.
Valve is also positioning the Recently Updated section as an opportunity
for developers to promote their updated games, hilariously stating that
the new section "extends discoverability options." Developers can
access a new tool that allows them to elect when to add their updated to
the Recently Updated section, and what to say about their update's
content.
