Ubisoft has announced a new partnership with The Tetris Company that
will see it bring the classic game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
2014 marks the seminal puzzler's 30th anniversary. Originally devised by
Soviet programmer Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris has now sold in excess of 170
million copies and is frequently championed as one of the greatest
games ever made.
Henk B. Rogers, the managing director of The Tetris Company, spoke
optimistically about the new partnership, “We welcome Ubisoft to the
Tetris family. I am 100% sure they will develop one of the best versions
of the Tetris game ever."
Meanwhile, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot, shared his
enthusiasm: “We’re very excited to start working with this
world-renowned brand, and can’t wait to combine Ubisoft’s expertise and
all the capacities of next-gen consoles to create an exciting new Tetris
experience for fans."
The Tetris license has passed through many hands over the years.
