Kaz Hirai has announced Sony COO and President Phil Molyneux is exiting the position after the end of the year.
Phil Molyneux, Sony Electronics' president and COO, is apparently
stepping down from his position. Word of the impending executive shuffle
was released by Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, reports The Verge. Apparently, Molyneux will move into an advisory role after vacating the president's job.
Michael Fasulo, currently an executive vice president with Sony, will take over the reigns of Sony Electronics after the departure of Molyneux. General manager of marketing Toshifumi Okuda will step into Fasulo's vice president position.
Molyneux has led Sony Electronics as president and COO since 2010, and
began his career with Sony 23 years ago. Hirai thanked Molyneux for his
years of service in the announcement, noting the executive's "passionate
commitment to the employees he led for the past three-plus years."
