Sony says, according to NPD "Top-selling next-gen platform for both hardware and software in November."
Ahead of the NPD releasing complete sales data for November, PlayStation
has released a statement saying they were the "top-selling next-gen
platform for both hardware and software in November."
That's probably not a huge surprise, given the regular updates every time the console has sold another million units, with similar numbers coming from Microsoft the week after.
President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America had this to say
about their success: “PlayStation 4 sales in North America and
worldwide have been incredibly strong since launch, culminating in PS4
being recognized as the largest console launch in history."
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are currently sold out at retailers in
the United States, and Tretton writes, "Demand continues to overwhelm
supply, but we’re working hard to get PS4 units into the hands of
customers throughout the holiday season.”
As we explored earlier in an editorial, sales
numbers for the next-gen consoles so close to launch don't indicate
that one console has a definitive lead over the other (yet). But this early success in both hardware and software paints Sony in a very positive light.
